How was YOUR Friday the 13th?

Certain that this year was going to be an off concert year for us since Panic is 'vacationing', the hubs and I were dee-freekin-lighted when we found out that the MISSING CATS were coming to THE BLIND TIGER in Greensboro!

JoJo Hermann and Sherman Ewing were enough to have us pumped...Little did we know that we would also be in for a treat with Greg Humphreys warming things up for them.

Greg's soulful voice and genuine down to earthness created the perfect tone to start off what would be the BEST Friday the 13th night ever.

If you live in Central North Carolina and love live music, you should definitely check out The Blind Tiger! They have a LOT of awesome acts to come thru and they provide the perfect setting to be merry and enjoy great live music. Hats off to TBT for doing what they do - THANK YOU for bringing live music like this so close to home!!

Hubs and I have been to quite a few Panic shows and countless other live shows, so it was really amazing to be in such an intimate setting with one of our fave musicians from one of our fave bands. We LOVE Panic, don't get me wrong, but it was so cool to see a more personal side of JoJo Hermann. JoJo and Sherman Ewing are like two peas in a pod. They are both a little quiet, with a modest presence. They share those looks like two old best friends share, and the energy that they create on stage is far more than that of just two guys...

To top off the most magical Friday the 13th ever, I even got setlist fragments, thanks to Chris...
yep - he rocks!

Thanks again to Greg Humphreys, The Missing Cats and everyone at The Blind Tiger.

Definitely the BEST Friday the 13th EVER! :O)

Monkey Business

Parents....Teacher Appreciation Week is approachin and if you haven't got anything in mind for your kids teacher(s) yet, then you need to get on the stick! Teachers are the folks angels that help us shape our lil sugars into smart, loveable adults. Show them you care and that you appreciate EVERYTHING that they do :o)

After the crochet bunny turned out so good, I decided I'd get a leg up on the teacher appreciation deal this year and crochet a monkey! A monkey? Yeah, a monkey.

My son's class mascot is a monkey and his teacher is hands down one of THE...BEST...EVER. I could devote a whole blog to this lady and how great she is...I seriously couldn't dream up a better first grade teacher. She is creative, she is fun, she is sweet AND she gets the job done! Long story short, I knew she would love the crochet monkey.

Who wouldn't love this lil guy??

Bless his lil heart...He didn't even make it to the actual Teacher Appreciation week...We were so excited, the monkey went to school Tuesday :O)

Happy EARLY Teacher's Appreciation week to all teachers!!

Frankenbunny Lives!

With spring springin' like it has for the past few weeks, I've been so absorbed in picture takin' that when I finally picked up a crochet hook, I realized that it just wasn't going to be as magical crocheting a beanie or scarf in 80 degree weather. Yeah. I mean its only April and I'm already watchin' kids swim in the pool...

So, I had to come up with something else that I could do...Something that went fairly quick, used one stitch and was worked in rounds. I hate working in rows...Can't ever get 'em even. With Easter comin' so early this year, I decided to crochet easter eggs. They are small, quick and easy. Yep - my kinda crochet project. After checking out several patterns online, I decided on one and this is what I came up with.

At the time, I didn't have any stuffing but HAD to see a somewhat finished product, so I used paper towels. Hey - they got the job done.

After showing my new creation to my "crochet mentor" she informed me not to buy any stuffing, that she had a whole bag that I could HAVE. Love ya Fran :O)

I decided the first egg pattern I used was too pointy, so I decided to crap-can it and make up my own. Voila...

So, back to the stuffing bag....
As soon as she handed the bag to me, I saw the friggin cutest crochet bunny EVER on the front of the bag.

See him?? He's friggin adorable isn't he?

After a night of searching for his pattern free pattern, I decided that I'd just come up with my own. He looked like he was single stitched and all of his pieces could be done using rounds...cha-ching!

My bunny doesn't really look like the bunny on the bag...They could be cousins maybe, but the more I worked on creating my pattern, this lil fella developed his own little persona. Fran and I affectionately dubbed him Frankenbunny (Frank for short) because for weeks, I crocheted piece by piece when I could squeeze in the time.

Well, here he is - finally all put together...in one piece...Just in time for EASTER :O)

NC Museum of Life and Science

A lil over 2 weeks ago, I was off work on Friday enjoying one of the BEST field trips ever with my amazin fam and a ton of amazin first graders at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science!

What an AWESOME place!

I went there several times as a kid...it was super-cool then (25 years ago) and its still super-cool now to share with my son. A great BIG gold STAR to the folks that run and sponsor this place...Something so cool and something so close to home needs to be recognized and enjoyed!!

Seriously, if you haven't ever been (doesn't matter how old you are) you should go. If you have kids, make sure they get a chance to go, whether it's at school, camp, or with you. This place makes learning fun, cool, and interesting for all ages - how much better does it get than that??

hehehe...I just LOVE donkeys. Wonder WTH he was saying there?

so peaceful....

Caught this guy right in the middle of bathtime...

more peacefulness...the barnyard babies def. have it made at NCMLS

fun with shutter speeds :O)

started rainin right about here...spent too much time up under a tree (where it was dry) playing with shutter speeds on the waterfall than snappin shots of the bears and wolves.

waitin for tha sun...

out of everything that we saw, these lil guys totally stole my heart. the whole trip rocked, but the lemurs were my fave of the day...wonder if they need a lemur caretaker/handler/babysitter??

weird arse bugs...

aside from the lemurs, i could have spent HOURS in the butterfly house. soooooooooo cool...all kinds of butterflies are EVERYWHERE randomly doing their own lil things as if they were in the wild.

yeah buddy...the hubs sported his chaperone sticker proudly :o)

on the dinosaur trail...

25 years ago this thing was GINORMUS...so glad to see that they haven't done away with it!!

soooo, if the lemur dept. isn't hiring, i'd be glad to help these lil guys any day. i hadn't ever really paid much attention to owls, but these sweeties were amazing. yep...I got left behind here...lol. these owls were inside, in the dark, behind glass with my beginner arse playing with settings.

ugly as he is, had to take his picture...almost looks like a lil smile on his face

supercoolness

ground control to major tom....

even more super coolness...you could actually touch clouds!

so proud - he actually figured these out before we did and had one going good for like 30 mins!

the best SONNY impersonation ever :O)
the drum/percussion area on the playground here has been one of my faves since i was his size and beating on them

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

See - Don't you just want to check it out?? You should...It's def. worth it :O)
